CUSIP Global Services’ (CGS) CUSIP Issuance Trends Report for June 2018, which tracks the issuance of new security identifiers as an early indicator of debt and capital markets activity, has revealed a found a fourth straight monthly increase in requests for new municipal bond identifiers, while CUSIP request volume for corporate equity and debt decreased in June.
CGS says this is suggestive of steady improvement in municipal issuance and continued volatility in corporate issuance for the second half of 2018.

Clearly Drinks, a private equity-backed soft drinks manufacturing company, has completed the acquisition of the IP and distribution rights for the Powerful Water Company (POW).
This follows a year of double-digit growth in which Clearly Drinks increased headcount to over 100 people and secured a contract with a major supermarket.
Founded by the ex-Monster Energy and Capri Sun, Head of Sales Ed Woolner, with the financial backing of former Diageo and Red Bull executives, POW used natural ingredients to deliver healthier functional beverages to the soft drinks industry.

Health-focused restaurant brand True Food Kitchen, which is backed by private equity firm Centrebridge, has secured an equity investment from Oprah Winfrey, who also joins the board of directors.
Founded in 2008, True Food Kitchen has received national recognition as a culinary leader, with a health-driven menu of seasonal dishes and natural beverages guided by the principles of founder Dr Andrew Weil’s anti-inflammatory food pyramid.

O’Melveny has represented Highview Capital in its acquisition of specialised food service distributor Good Source Solutions.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

UK private equity house Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has completed a GBP2 million investment in Lending Works, a UK peer-to-peer (P2P) lender.
The total transaction value also includes GBP800,000 of funding from NVM Private Equity, Pollen Street Capital, and a small number of business angels. The investment will be used to strengthen Lending Works’ sales and marketing function to support the continued expansion of the business, capitalising on the significant growth forecasted in the P2P market, and enabling it to originate and convert more loans through its established sales channels, such as brokers and price comparison sites.

Investment bank Houlihan Lokey has appointed Zade Zalatimo as a Managing Director in the firm’s Corporate Finance business, effective September.
Zalatimo will be based in Dubai and will spearhead the expansion of the Private Funds Group and contribute to Houlihan Lokey’s broader advisory capabilities in the region.

Bambu, a provider of robo-advisory technology, today announced it has completed a USD3 million Series A funding led by Franklin Templeton Investments, with Singapore family office Octava and prominent Japanese Fintech investor Mamoru Taniya also joining the round.
