Evolution Equity Partners has held the final closing of a new fund with total capital commitments of USD125 million to make investments in cybersecurity and next generation enterprise software and services in North America, Europe and Israel.
The fund exceeded its target and is backed by leading institutional investors, corporates, family offices and technology entrepreneurs from the United States and Europe including Cisco Investments, The European Investment Fund (EIF), Witelo Fund (PZU Insurance Group), Alpha Associates among others.

UK private equity house Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has led a GBP3.5 million investment in Contego Fraud Solutions (Contego), to support the continued growth of the business.
The transaction is being jointly funded by Maven and NVM Private Equity (NVM) which are investing GBP1.8 million and GBP1.5 million respectively. The remaining GBP0.2 million is being funded by existing investors.

Privacy engineering software company, Privitar, has raised USD16 million in a Series A funding round led by Partech Ventures with participation from CME Ventures and Salesforce Ventures.
Existing investors IQ Capital, 24Haymarket and Illuminate Financial have reinvested. Privitar will use the funds to accelerate the delivery of its product roadmap and core IP. The firm will also look to build on sales success in Europe with expansion to the United States and other key geographies.

The attack was global in scale, and brought parts of the NHS to a standstill, along with Telefonica in Spain, FedEx, Deutsche Bahn and LATAM Airlines, to name a few.
For financial services firms, WannaCry is a wakeup call, because although the sector seems to have escaped relatively unscathed, so far, the next attack is just around the corner, and:

Form3, a cloud-based, end-to-end, secure platform for global payments processing, has secured a strategic investment from Barclays, the Angel CoFund and several individual investors who have joined the existing shareholders in raising USD5 million.

Activa Capital and Bpifrance have sold their stakes in Nexeya, a French group specialised in the design and manufacture of mission-critical electronic systems for major industrial companies primarily in the defence, aeronautics, space, energy, railway and automotive sectors.
After having substantially reinvested, Nexeya’s management now holds a majority stake in the group.
The operation, led by Nexeya managers Jean-Yves Rivière, Philippe Gautier, and Jérôme Giraud, gives the group’s management a 75 per cent majority stake in the company. The management team plans to accelerate the company’s development by product innovation and international expansion.
