Nasdaq has launched a venture investment programme, Nasdaq Ventures, dedicated to discovering, investing in and partnering with fintech companies worldwide.

Conway Investment Research has acquired operational control of the Guggenheim Alternatives Platform from GP Feeder Fund Management.
The platform, which provides qualified investors access to global alternative investment solutions, is now known as the Conway Alternatives Platform.

Botswana is the most attractive economy for investments flowing into the African continent, according to the latest Africa Investment Index 2016 by Quantum Global’s independent research arm, Quantum Global Research Lab.

Audax Private Equity has partnered with management to acquire Impact Facility Services, d/b/a Academy Fire Life Safety, from Caltius Equity Partners, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles.
Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Vanuatu coffee producer Tanna Coffee has secured a AUD656,000 investment from impact investors.
Facilitated by The Difference Incubator (TDi), the private capital injection will help grow Tanna Coffee’s output five-fold, supporting more than 750 farmers and their families on the remote island.
The investment was made possible by the Pacific Investment Readiness Pilot, a partnership between TDi and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), which helps create investable opportunities for impact investors. The investment is the second capital injection into the Pacific made by the Genesis Impact Fund, set up by TDi’s partner Benefit Capital.

Synpromics, a synthetic promoter and gene control company, has completed a financing round of GBP5.2 million led by existing investors Calculus Capital, the Scottish Investment Bank, the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise and private shareholders.

UK private equity buy and build investor Sovereign Capital has appointed Alex Hay as a partner.
He joins from RJD Partners where he had been a partner since 2011 working with businesses across a breadth of sectors.
Hay’s investments include the GBP23 million secondary buy-out of training provider Babington Group, the GBP15 million buy-out of Burgess Marine, the marine engineering services business, and the GBP40 million secondary buy-out of Harrington Brooks, the debt solutions business.
Prior to RJD Partners, Hay built his deal experience at Close Brothers Corporate Finance following his earlier accountancy career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Calculus has invested in a GBP5.2 million fundraising round alongside the Scottish government’s economic development agency, Scottish Enterprise and a group of private investors.
