Real estate investment trust The GEO Group is to acquire Community Education Centers (CEC), a private provider of rehabilitative services for offenders in re-entry and in-prison treatment facilities as well as management services for county, state and federal correctional and detention facilities.
GEO will acquire CEC for USD360 million in an all cash transaction, excluding transaction related expenses.
GEO will not assume any debt as a result of the transaction. GEO plans to integrate CEC into GEO’s existing business units of GEO Corrections & Detention and GEO Care.

New Heritage Capital, a Boston-based private equity investment firm specialising in founder-owned businesses, has invested in Continental Services, a diversified food-service provider serving corporate clients in Michigan.
The transaction will be structured using Heritage’s Private IPO solution.
Continental’s current management team and founder, Jim Bardy, will continue to control day-to-day operations and direct the company’s vision.
Continental provides its customers with a wide range of services, including corporate café, grab-and-go market, vending, office coffee, and special event offerings. It currently serves over 700 companies.

Legal firm Gilson Gray has doubled the capacity of its centrally located Edinburgh office after rapid growth in its first three years.
Gilson Gray, based at 29 Rutland Square in the heart of Edinburgh’s financial district, has expanded into the neighbouring four storey building at 25 Rutland Square, increasing its capital operations by more than 5,000 square foot.
Following on the back of the 3,500 square foot expansion of its Glasgow office in 2016, the move will enable the full service firm to cater for further additions to its team.
High profile acquisitions, which include the recruitment of
Ecrebo, a retail point of sale marketing specialist, has secured a GBP12 million investment from Air Miles and Nectar founder Sir Keith Mills and former Warburg Pincus head of Europe, Joseph Schull.
The new funding will support increased investment in product and technology development for Ecrebo’s digital marketing platform, and will help to accelerate the retail technology specialist’s global expansion, with a particular focus on North America.
This will build on Ecrebo’s success to date in Europe, and entry into the American market in 2016. The funds will also be used to recruit new talent into Ecrebo’s growing team.
Post Oak Energy Capital, through investment partnerships it manages, has led a USD200 million equity commitment to Moriah Henry Partners.
Henry Energy and Moriah Energy Investments will co-invest alongside Post Oak.
Moriah Henry Partners is a Midland-based exploration and production company focused on the acquisition and development of oil and gas properties in the Midland Basin of West Texas.
The company is jointly managed by Henry and Moriah, which have a long history of collaboration and value creation in the upstream space, particularly in the Permian Basin.
The company will use proceeds from the investment to fund acquisitions
State Street Corporation’s GX Private Equity Index (PEI) saw an overall return of 3.8 per cent in the third quarter of 2016, with buyout, private debt and venture capital each posting positive returns.

Iceoplex Operating, an affiliate of Blackstreet Capital Holdings (BCH), has acquired substantially all of the assets of the Iceoplex at Southpointe sports complex.
The facility has one sheet of ice, one multi-purpose indoor sport court utilised for indoor soccer and other turf sports, a health club, outdoor volleyball courts and the BLVD Pub and Kitchen restaurant.
Iceoplex, located in Canonsburg, PA, is a year-round indoor one-sheet ice arena that is home to numerous youth hockey and figure skating clubs and was previously the training facility for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
Iceoplex is the fourth ice arena purchased by
Latvian peer-to-peer lending platform TWINO has begun listing short term loans via its Spanish originator, allowing its investors to further diversify their investment portfolios.
Spain is the sixth country listed on TWINIO’s pan-European platform.
The Spanish short term loans will have a maximum duration of one month and will offer investors a return rate of 8 per cent per annum. The loans will be covered by TWINO’s BuyBack Guarantee, which protects investors from borrower default risk.
TWINO, which introduced its peer-to-peer lending platform in 2015, provides short-term unsecured consumer loans for private individuals across a number of European countries
