ORIX Corporation has acquired a controlling interest in RB Capital Empreendimentos, a Brazilian capital markets and asset management platform.
The acquisition leverages ORIX’s strategy to expand its growing capital solutions and asset management business in Latin America.

Victory Park Capital (VPC) has provided a USD100 million senior secured credit facility to Cognical (d/b/a Zibby) to expand its omni-channel lease-to-own payment platform for in-store and online shopping.
The credit facility, along with the accompanying equity investment, will help the company grow and scale its lease portfolio, providing underbanked consumers with an affordable alternative for acquiring durable consumer goods such as furniture, appliances and electronics.

D E Shaw Renewable Investments has acquired the Mississippi Solar 2 project from Origis DevCo.
The project is a 52 MWAC solar power facility located three miles away from Sumrall in Lamar County, Mississippi.
Promptly following the acquisition, DESRI started construction of the project, which it expects to be completed in Q2 2017.

Private equity fund manager and Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and venture capital trust (VCT) specialist Calculus Capital has invested GBP3 million in UK trampoline park company Jumptastic as it plans to expand into Scandinavia.
Jumptastic’s first park opened in Gloucester in 2015, offering 90 interlinked trampolines over 30,000 square feet. The park attracted more than 140,000 visitors in its first 12 months.

Palatine-backed EPI Group has acquired PDF Limited, an oil and gas geoscience consultancy, allowing the business to broaden its scope for supporting clients’ exploration and development programmes.
Established in 1987, Surrey-based EPI provides exploration services to the oil and gas industry, with offices in the US, Australia, Russia, France, Ghana and South America. Its services include land and marine seismic surveys, data processing, environment projects and wellsite operations.
Oxfordshire-based PDF provides exploration and production advisory services, as well as acting as the outsourced exploration department for a wide range of international clients.

Rakuten has invested EUR10 million in consumer finance company Kreditech, joining existing backers including JC Flowers and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation.
Michael Piechalak of the Rakuten FinTech Fund will join the board as an observer.
Kreditech aims to invest the new funding into further developing its partnership business. The company has launched its lending-as-a-service in spring 2016. Partners such as PayU (Naspers) are making use of Kreditech’s POS financing integration.
