Calculus Capital, a private equity fund manager and Enterprise Investment Scheme and VCT provider, has sold its investment in Human Race, a UK mass participation sports company, to Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO).
ASO is the company behind Le Tour de France, the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris and many other European sports events.
Human Race organises more than 30 mass participation events in the UK, including the London Winter Run, Windsor Triathlon and the new VitalityMove events run in partnership with Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill.

Law firm Paul Hastings has advised the Weber family on the sale of a majority interest in Weber Automotive to the independent private equity fund Ardian.
The transaction was signed after undergoing a competitive bidder process in which Ardian emerged as highest bidder.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the economic details of the transaction, which is subject to the approvals of antitrust authorities.

Management and technology consultancy Brickendon has merged with Spaarks, a software consultancy specialising in rapid technology-led business solutions.
The merger is expected to grow the combined business by 150 per cent over the next 12 months. The combined group will have an expanded range of solutions to further support clients in the financial services market.
Since Brickendon launched in 2010, the company has achieved 200 per cent growth per annum. It recently opened an office in New York City.

Investment firm Fundamental Asset Management, specialists in the AIM market, reports that despite a quiet month for new issues, the market has seen strong performance in share prices for many companies.
Fundamental’s Chris Boxall says that new issue activity on AIM virtually ground to a halt in September with only one genuine new arrival Aura Energy, an Australian based uranium company. With eight cancellations there were only 1,000 companies listed at the end of the month. The Wellesley, Massachusetts, venture fund will invest in high-value-added medical technology enterprises (MedTech) such as medical devices and diagnostics.
The fund’s focus is on technology with the potential to provide important benefits to patients, physicians and healthcare institutions, as well as significant returns to investors.
The fund’s management includes BioVentures Investors founders Marc Goldberg and Peter Feinstein; Jeff Barnes, managing director and partner; and Walter Gilbert as senior partner. Goldberg will serve as managing partner.

International aircraft leasing business Avolon, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bohai Capital, is to acquire the aircraft leasing operations of CIT Group, creating a business with an owned, managed and committed fleet of 910 aircraft valued at over USD43 billion.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and required regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017.
