Cloud9 Technologies, a cloud-based communication provider for financial firms and institutional traders, has closed a USD30 million funding round led by JPMorgan Chase, with ICAP, Barclays and Point72 Ventures.
The round also includes individual participation by the principals of several trading firms, such as Hudson Ridge Asset Management, who were among Cloud9's early customers.

Lower middle-market private equity firm Blue Sage Capital has completed its acquisition of Magnum Systems.
Headquartered in Kansas City, with an additional manufacturing facility in Parsons, Kansas, Magnum, through its Taylor Products and Smoot brands, is a designer and manufacturer of branded packaging and material handling solutions.
The company’s products are designed to handle free-flowing materials that are difficult to package or convey in all types of manufacturing environments.

In the first half of 2016, French private equity firms invested EUR5.5 billion to support and accelerate company growth projects, according to data released by the Association Française des Investisseurs pour la Croissance (AFIC).
This figure is up 47 per cent relative to the first half of 2015 and is above the 2006-2008 annual average.

Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) portfolio company Nord Hydro-Beliy Porog has broken ground on the construction of small hydropower plants on the river Kem in Karelia, Northwest Russia.
The breaking ground ceremony was held in the presence of the Head of the Republic of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen, RDIF executives and its international partners Sinomec, the New Development Bank (NDB) founded by the BRICS countries, and other organisations involved in the project.

Following the acquisition of M247, Metronet (UK) will be able to offer a combined portfolio of connectivity and content services including wireless network services, datacentres and managed hosting solutions across the UK and Europe.
The combined business will have EBITDA in excess of GBP12 million, over 200 staff, three data centres and over 13,000 customers.

GLAS, an independent provider of finance administration services, has appointed Joe Knight to spearhead the expansion of the firm’s direct lending platform.
Knight will have responsibility for business development and developing strategic relationships with GLAS’ existing direct lending client base.
The move comes as funds increasingly replace banks in the lower to middle market transactions, leading to an uptick in demand for independent agent and trustee services.

Fanisi Capital has launched its second fund, Fanisi Capital Fund II, with a target of between USD75 million and USD100 million.
Fanisi Capital Fund II, which is a close-ended 10-year growth fund, is targeting to raise up to USD40 million locally, with the rest coming from international investors.
