Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has appointed Graeme Eadie as senior managing director and global head of real assets, a new investment department that brings together the real estate investments department with the company’s existing infrastructure and agriculture groups. The group says the change will create a better alignment with its Strategic Portfolio.   Eadie has been with CPPIB since 2005, and was most recently senior managing director and global head of real estate investments.   Shane Feeney has been appointed senior managing director and global head of private investments. Feeney will also join CPPIB's senior management team.  
Private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo has completed fundraising for Thoma Bravo Fund XII, its most recent flagship fund, with USD7.6 billion in commitments. Phononic, a specialist in cooling and heating with solid-state technology, has raised USD30 million in funding featuring new investors GGV Capital and Lookout Capital. Pagemill Partners, a division of Duff & Phelps, has appointed Rory O’Sullivan as a managing director and the firm’s first head of European technology M&A, based in London. O’Sullivan’s appointment marks a significant step in expanding Pagemill’s worldwide offering, and the further strengthening of M&A capabilities within Duff & Phelps and Pagemill in the UK and Europe.   Since its inception in 2005, technology-focused Pagemill has completed more than 250 M&A transactions in the software, hardware, internet and media, and communications sectors.     O’Sullivan has 20 years’ experience in the investment banking industry, having completed over 50 transactions with a
3i Infrastructure has completed its investment in renewable development and operating company Valorem. 3i Infrastructure has invested EUR57 million to acquire its 28.5 per cent interest in the French business and to fund the company’s pipeline.   3i Infrastructure acquired its interest from FCPR Capenergie, a fund managed by Omnes Capital, and other minority shareholders.   It has also committed to invest a further EUR12 million over the next three years with a view to increase the company’s owned installed capacity.   The transaction was announced on 14 July. 
Datorama has closed USD32 million in Series C funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Marker and Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors also participated in the round.   This series brings Datorama's total funding to USD50 million.   Datorama will primarily use the new funding to accelerate the company's research and development in the artificial intelligence field, which will further elevate its machine learning capabilities. African private equity specialist Development Partners International (DPI) has agreed to subscribe to a USD100 million capital increase through its ADP II Fund in Atlantic Business International (ABI). He will succeed managing partner Mark Leddy.   Gerstenzang is a leader in organising and advising private investment funds, including buyout funds, international funds, growth funds, special situations funds and other types of alternative asset investment vehicles.   He joined the firm’s New York office in 1992 and became a partner in 1999. Alkemics, a collaborative platform for retailers, has closed a Series B financing round of USD22 million led by Cathay Innovation and Serena Capital. Index Ventures, Partech Ventures and SEB Alliance also participated in the financing following a Series A round of USD5.6 million in early 2015.     The latest round is one of the 10 largest in 2016 for the French technology sector.
