The Riverside Company has promoted Patrick Schaich to Principal, Origination. Schaich leads origination efforts for the firm in the DACH region.
Schaich joined Riverside in 2013 and works out of the Munich office. Prior to joining Riverside, he was Vice President, Investment Banking at Berenberg Bank. Prior to that, he served as Associate, Investment Banking at Kepler Cheuvreux and Consultant, Transaction Advisory Services at Ernst & Young.

Ogier has provided Jersey law advice on the acquisition by Luxembourg-based satellite operator and provider SES SA of a controlling stake in satellite operator O3b.
SES SA will pay USD 20 million to increase its fully diluted ownership of O3b from 49.1 per cent to 50.5 per cent, bringing its aggregate equity investment in O3b to date to USD 323 million (EUR 257 million). On completion, SES will consolidate O3b’s net debt, which is currently USD 1.2 billion. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

Midwest boutique investment bank XMS Capital Partners (XMS) has launched XA Investments LLC (XAI) to provide a platform in the registered funds space for alternative investments.
The firm has hired Kimberly Flynn as Managing Director of Alternative Investments and John McGarrity as Managing Director and General Counsel to build the XA Investments business. Antares Capital is serving as administrative agent, joint lead arranger and joint bookrunner on a USD198 million senior secured credit facility to support the acquisition of Interstate Hotels & Resorts by Kohlberg & Company (Kohlberg).

The Aurelius Group started the 2016 financial year very successfully with total consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2016 increasing by 58 per cent year-on-year to EUR686.4 million (Q1 2015: EUR433.9 million).
At EUR2,640.6 million, consolidated revenues on an annual basis exceeded the prior-year figure by 52 per cent (Q1 2015: EUR1,735.6 million).

This new Group, led by Tecres’ shareholders, combines two of the major players in the field of bone cement and biomaterials, Tecres SpA (Italy-based) and aap Biomaterials GmbH (Germany-based) which will continue to act as separate entities with their own respective business strategies.

Middle market private equity firm Calera Capital has appointed Bob Bianco, former CEO of Menlo Worldwide, as an Operating Partner.
Bianco will assist Calera with investments in the transportation and supply chain management space with a particular focus on the third party logistics (“3PL”) sector. Calera intends to commit USD40 to USD200 million of equity per investment in a range of transaction types which are primarily focused on family/founder owned businesses but may also include recapitalizations of private and public companies, corporate divestitures, and growth equity investments.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued a notice of application for an order for exemptive relief that will permit Triloma EIG Global Energy Fund and Triloma EIG Global Energy Term Fund I (collectively, the Funds) to co-invest in portfolio companies with each other and with certain affiliated investment funds.
The Funds expect the SEC to grant an order for exemptive relief in approximately 30 days, allowing the Funds to participate in directly originated investment transactions, including those alongside EIG's private funds, subject to the conditions in the order.
