According to a new study by specialist lender, Amicus Finance, more than half (53 per cent) of small business owners expect demand for alternative finance – including forms such as property finance, crowdsourcing, invoice finance and asset finance, to increase over the next two years while just 6 per cent think it will decline.  The findings showed that small firms predict demand for alternative finance will increase by an average of 28 per cent over the next two years. The Capital Partnership, a private investment office and independent asset manager, is to acquire Northgate Capital, the California-based venture capital and private equity investment firm, from Religare and members of the firm’s management team.  Religare, the India-based diversified financial services group, acquired a majority interest in Northgate in 2010. Bridges Ventures (Bridges) has sold Babington Group (Babington), a UK-based provider of apprenticeships and training courses, to RJD Partners for GBP22 million. Bridges, a specialist sustainable and impact investor, originally invested in Babington Group in 2009 via the Bridges Sustainable Growth Fund II. Under its ownership, Babington’s revenues have increased from under GBP2m to more than GBP15m, thanks to strong organic growth and two strategic acquisitions.
