Private equity firm HIG Capital has recapitalised United States Medical Supply (US MED), a direct-to-consumer mail-order medical supply business, focused on patients with chronic conditions, in partnership with management.
Headquartered in Miami, FL, US MED provides medical supplies to patients suffering from chronic conditions, including diabetes, sleep/respiratory disorders, and urological conditions who need such supplies daily. A wholly-owned, indirect subsidiary of Seagate Technology is to acquire Dot Hill in an all-cash transaction valued at USD9.75 per share, or a total of approximately USD694 million on a fully-diluted equity value basis.
As Dot Hill has approximately USD49 million in cash on its balance sheet as of June 30, 2015, the transaction reflects an enterprise value of approximately USD645 million. The consideration represents a 50 per cent premium over the preceding three month stock price average.

The real estate funds industry is alive and well from an asset raising perspective. In 2012, private RE funds closed with USD72 billion in committed institutional assets. By 2014, that number had increased by 45 per cent, according to leading alternative asset data provider, Preqin.
While this is encouraging, the reality is that for most RE managers, the playing field has become extremely competitive as more players enter the arena to compete for a share of the assets.

With concerns regarding infrastructure asset pricing ranking highest among institutional investors surveyed by Preqin, this extract from Preqin Infrastructure Spotlight – August 2015 examines the rise in average infrastructure deal sizes by geography, industry and project stage.
Global average deal size
As an asset class, infrastructure has grown in prominence and significance in recent years, although infrastructure deal flow has fluctuated alongside this. The number of completed infrastructure deals grew rapidly from 733 in 2009 to 1,056 in 2013. However, in 2014 the number of deals tailed off: only 883 deals were completed, with a further 325 completed this year so far.

With this latest funding, SpotHero has raised USD27 million in total capital. The company will use the investment to accelerate marketing efforts, explore strategic relationships and hire 25 new positions in Chicago, New York City and San Francisco.

The Scottish Investment Bank (SIB), Scottish Enterprise’s investment arm, has relaunched its co-investment funds, with the aim of investing up to GBP75 million into companies across Scotland over the next three years.
By streamlining its co-investment funds from four to two and widening the investment parameters, SIB is increasing flexibility and accessibility for businesses and investors who will now be able to easily identify and seek to access the appropriate investment fund where there is a funding gap and request for SIB investment.
