Union Group has secured a USD59m financing package for two hydropower plants in Peru from a consortium of development banks. DEG, FMO, OeEB and COFIDE have invested in senior debt in Union Group’s El Carmen and 8 de Ogosto plants which will generate a combined 27.4 MW of capacity and be linked by a 60km transmission line to the power grid.   Union Group subsidiary Generación Andina is building the plants backed by two 20-year power purchase agreements with the Peruvian Government.   The USD88m project marks the first stage of a plan to build nine hydropower plants with 125

Institutional asset owners recorded a median gain of 0.2 per cent in Q2, according to Northern Trust Universe data. This marks a drop from the 4 per cent median gain in the second quarter last year and 2.3 per cent median gain in the previous quarter. The Northern Trust Universe tracks the performance of about 300 large US institutional investment plans, with a combined asset value of approximately USD899 billion, which subscribe to performance measurement services as part of Northern Trust’s asset servicing offerings. There was a noteworthy divergence of returns among plan types in the second quarter of 2015.
ESMA’s latest advice concludes that no obstacles exist to extension of AIFMD passport to Guernsey and Jersey, says Andrew Whittaker (pictured), Managing Director, Ipes Guernsey… The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published its advice in relation to the extension of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) passport to non EU jurisdictions.   The ESMA advice concludes that "no obstacles exist to the extension of the passport to Guernsey and Jersey."
