The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) have launched the Fundamentals of Alternative Investments Certificate Programme.

Thomson Reuters will work closely with Cambridge Associates to develop a range of product offerings which will be made available through Thomson Reuters Eikon for the benefit of the global alternative investment community.

Digitalbox, the performance marketing specialist, has secured USD1m in venture capital funding from a series of high net worth investors to help fund the expansion of its native advertising business, ContentClick.
With over 500 publishers and bloggers signed up to the nascent publishing network since its launch in early January 2014, the funding will be used to finance the expansion of the ContentClick service internationally, notably in territories with large scale blogging networks and niche publishers.
ContentClick offers publishers and bloggers the chance to earn extra revenue by adding a ‘free' widget to their site.
Using a sophisticated
Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group, together with affiliates of Louis M Bacon, are to acquire a majority interest in the Traxys Group, a physical metals and minerals commodity merchant.
As part of the transaction, Traxys management will increase its investment stake in the company.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions including required regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2014. Carlyle, Bacon and Traxys management are acquiring their stake from Pegasus Capital Advisors, Kelso & Company and Resource Capital Funds.

Graphite Capital, a UK mid-market private equity specialist, has backed the management buy-out (MBO) of ICR, which provides repair and maintenance services to the global energy industry.
ICR comprises four businesses that mainly operate in the UK and Middle East energy markets.

MUBI, the global video on demand platform, has closed a USD7.5m Series D funding round led by Floreat, MMC Ventures and White Star Capital, alongside existing angel investors.
The investment comes just two weeks after MUBI formed a partnership with Samsung to bring curated cinema to Samsung Smart TV.

Crestbridge has been granted AIFM licensing by Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) to become a provider of management company services to alternative investment funds.
Crestbridge is already authorised to provide services to UCITS funds under Chapter 15 of the law of 17 December 2010, but the process of gaining the additional authorisation "was a challenge requiring significant work," says Daniela Klasén-Martin, managing director and country head of Crestbridge (Luxembourg).

Ipes Jersey has been appointed as the new administrator of Quadriga Capital’s German private equity funds.
Quadriga Capital is a German fund manager founded in 1995 focusing on mid-market companies in Germany and neighbouring countries, in particular Switzerland and Austria. It invests primarily in management buy-outs and buy-ins and its objective is to produce substantial capital gains over the medium term.
Quadriga Capital has chosen to migrate all its German private equity funds to Ipes Jersey, including its most recent flagship fund, Quadriga Capital Private Equity Fund IV, which closed with total committed funds of approximately EUR511m.

Bridge Growth Partners, a growth-oriented private equity investment firm launched late last year, has appointed Phil Scanlan to the firm’s strategic advisory board.
Scanlan, an Australian businessman, stepped down as Australian consul-general in New York last year.
