Silicon Valley Bank, financial partner to the technology, life science, cleantech, private equity and venture capital industries, has joined HSBC as a joint senior lender to Vero Software, a computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) development company. The newly acquired funds from Silicon Valley Bank have been used to support the company’s acquisition of Sescoi International, an international supplier of CAD/CAM software solutions, and the purchase of assets from Surfcam, a major CAM software company. Allison (pictured) has been with the firm since 2009 and has focused on investments in the healthcare sector. He will join managing directors Brian Clevinger, Greg Johnson and Ilya Nykin, who co-founded Prolog in 2000. Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has raised USD308m for Carlyle Peru Fund, and its parallel vehicles, extending the South America investment presence the firm established five years ago. The fund will be invested by Carlyle in consultation with Credicorp, Peru’s largest bank, across industries including healthcare, retail and consumer, services to mining, construction and infrastructure businesses, and education. The developer of a unique disposable tourniquet, ASep Healthcare, has secured a GBP120,000 investment from The North West Fund for Biomedical, managed by SPARK Impact. ASep Healthcare, currently based in South Kensington, London, but due to move to Liverpool Science Park, developed an award winning disposable tourniquet designed to prevent cross infection between patients. The company was previously backed by Imperial Innovations, which builds and invests in promising technology and healthcare companies. The North West Fund for Biomedical is part of the wider GBP155m North West Fund, financed jointly by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank.
