LBO France has appointed Vincent Briançon as director for the White Knight funds, a series of LBO funds investing in companies with an enterprise value ranging from EUR100m to EUR2bn.
Briançcon’s appointment strengthens the White Knight investment and portfolio management team, which now has 14 professionals. LBO France counts 50 employees.
Briançon, 40, spent 14 years with Bridgepoint Capital, first in London and, since 2000, in Paris. He was promoted to partner in April 2008. European private equity firm Silverfleet Capital is to acquire A/S Cimbria, a manufacturer of equipment and processing lines for handling and processing of seed and grain, for DKK1,025m (EUR137m).
Completion, which is subject to obtaining clearance from the competition authorities, is expected to occur within the next few months.
The transaction is Silverfleet’s second investment announced within the past few weeks, having also completed the acquisition of La Fée Maraboutée, a French wholesaler and retailer of women’s fashion, for EUR65m on 14 December.

Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS) founding partner and president John Suhler retired from the private investment firm at the end of 2012.
Suhler (pictured), who is 69 years old and co-founded Veronis Suhler Stevenson in 1981, has been named chairman emeritus and will continue, along with other VSS partners, to represent VSS at communications industry events.
Suhler co-founded VSS under the premise that seasoned, media, communications and information industry-focused professionals could leverage their specialised skills to provide higher quality merger and acquisition advisory services, corporate finance representation and general financial advice. North American deal flow reached a post-Lehman high in 2012, according to data from Preqin.
This contributed to strong global deal flow recorded in 2012, with 2,866 buyout deals announced valued at USD254.6bn.
This nears the global post-2008 highs of 2011, which witnessed USD264.8bn globally from 2,900 buyout deals. Compared to 2010, global deal flow in 2012 represents a 14 per cent increase in the number and a 15 per cent rise in the value of buyout deals.

Appleby has made a number of changes to its leadership team, including the appointment of Frances Woo as group chairman.
Woo (pictured) will succeed Peter Bubenzer who will be retiring from the Appleby Group on 31 March 2013, following a career at Appleby that spans over 32 years.

Thomas Mirow is to join RiverRock European Capital Partners’ senior advisory board, effective 7 January.
From 2008 to 2012, Mirow (pictured) was the fifth president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. Previously he was a State Minister in Hamburg (1991 to 2001) and worked in the private sector before being appointed by Chancellor Schröder as Director of the Economics Department at the Chancellery (2005).
After the election of Chancellor Merkel in late 2005 and up to 2008, he served as Germany’s Deputy Finance Minister (Staatssekretär) in charge of international affairs and financial markets.
