Aurora Capital Group, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, has acquired DuBois Chemicals, a provider of chemical solutions and services, from The Riverside Company.
Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
DuBois offers a broad range of customised chemical solutions which reduce downtime, minimise defects, extend equipment life and generate high return on investment for customers in mission-critical applications.
DuBois serves customers across a broad array of industries, including the industrial, transportation, pulp and paper and water markets.

Private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners is to acquire Dash Multi-Corp, a manufacturer of formulated polyurethane, vinyl plastisol, specialty coatings and recycled rubber products.
The acquisition of Dash represents the fifth acquisition by Arsenal’s specialty industrials group in 2012, as well as another example of the firm’s acquiring a company from its founder.

The Business Development Bank of Canada’s venture capital arm has committed of CAD10m to the Atlantic Canada Regional Venture Fund, which is being set up to finance start-up companies in the IT, clean energy and healthcare sectors.
This contribution by Canada’s largest institutional venture capital investor brings to approximately CAD50m the total amount committed to date by the various partners to the fund, which is now open for business and actively seeking investment candidates throughout the Atlantic Provinces.

Venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners has appointed Adam Valkin as a general partner in its Boston office, effective January 2013.
In this role, Valkin will focus on sourcing early stage investments and working with existing companies in General Catalyst’s portfolio by using his experience to mentor young entrepreneurs.
Valkin has spent the last 16 years working with early stage businesses in Europe, Israel and the US as an investor and entrepreneur. Near field communications (NFC) specialist Tapit Media has completed a USD2.3m series A round led by MPC Ventures, a subsidiary of Sydney based Monash Private Capital.
Other investors in the consortium include IT entrepreneurs David Shein and David Thrum, as well as global venture capitalist Jon Medved’s ourcrowd.com.

Activa Capital has become the largest shareholder in La Maison Bleue, alongside the company’s management in order to finance further organic growth and build-up acquisitions.
La Maison Bleue, which manages 3,200 places in 80 nurseries throughout France and employs over 1,000 child care professionals, was founded in 2004 by Sylvain Forestier, chief executive, and Antonia Ryckbosch, managing director.

The Harley Medical Group has grown over 30 years, providing surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures across the UK.
In 2011 the whole cosmetic surgery industry was hit by the fraudulent activity of the supplier of PIP implants. Whilst operations involving breast implants make up less than 25 per cent of the business, The Harley Medical Group did not have the financial resources to survive.
