OFI InfraVia’s European Fund II, the firm’s second European focused infrastructure fund, has raised EUR150m from French and European institutional investors in a first closing of the fund.
InfraVia II is managed by Paris-based manager OFI InfraVia and is the successor fund of InfraVia, which was established in 2008 and is now fully invested.
OFI InfraVia focuses primarily on “core” brownfield infrastructure assets that are located in Europe. It considers opportunities across a broad spectrum of infrastructure opportunities including in the transportation, energy, social infrastructure, utilities and communications sectors. Resilience Capital Partners, a Cleveland-based private equity firm, has acquired Advanced Communications through its newly-formed entity, Aero Communications Inc (ACI).
ACI is a provider of telecommunications infrastructure services to businesses, individuals and governments.
ACI is Resilience Capital Partners’ first acquisition in the infrastructure services industry and its fifth platform investment in The Resilience Fund III.

Middle market private equity firm American Industrial Partners (AIP) and private markets investment manager Partners Group have sold Micro-Poise Measurement Systems to AMETEK for USD170m in cash.
Micro-Poise, headquartered in Ohio, is the world’s largest provider of integrated test and measurement solutions for the tyre industry in both developed and emerging markets.
AIP and Partners Group teamed to acquire Micro-Poise from Illinois Tool Works in April 2007.

Privately-held businesses in debt crisis-stricken Portugal, Spain and Italy are in many respects in better financial health than their publicly-listed peers, according to analysis from S&P Capital IQ.
While recent investor concerns over the ability of Portugal, Spain and Italy to service their sovereign debt have helped to depress local equity markets, S&P Capital IQ’s analysis shows that – in the aggregate – private companies in those three countries enjoy better short-term liquidity profiles and revenue growth reports while maintaining lower leverage rates than their public counterparts.

The Champ III Funds, advised by Champ Private Equity, has completed its acquisition of Gerard Lighting Group.
In July 2012, a scheme implementation agreement was executed between an entity owned by the Champ Funds and the board of Gerard Lighting.
Completion today follows the approval of both Gerard Lighting shareholders and the Federal Court of Australia.
Gerard Lighting is an Australian lighting manufacturer and distributor, with international operations in New Zealand, India, the Middle East, the UK, Indonesia and Malaysia. The company targets all segments of the lighting industry through brands including Pierlite, Sylvania and Crompton.

FLAG Capital Management, a private capital investment manager, is to acquire Squadron Capital, a Hong Kong-based private equity investment firm with USD1.5bn in assets under management.
The transaction increases FLAG’s total AUM to over USD6bn and allows it to more effectively deliver global solutions in private equity, venture capital, natural resources and real estate.
The acquisition from Search Investment Group is expected to close on or before 31 December 2012. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Innovation in additive manufacturing technologies is to be boosted through GBP7m of new UK government investment in research and development.
Grants for collaborative R&D projects in additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, will be awarded through an open competition to be managed by the Technology Strategy Board, the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council, the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council.

An affiliated investment fund of private equity firm Lightyear Capital’s Lightyear Fund III, and institutional co-investors, are to make a controlling investment in Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford (CGSC).
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2012, subject to required regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
