Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has named Robert Mancini a managing director and co-head of the Infrastructure Fund, joining founding co-head Robert Dove. Mancini is currently a managing director at The Goldman Sachs Group with responsibility for power asset investments made through Cogentrix Energy, an independent power producer and wholly owned subsidiary of Goldman Sachs. Mancini is currently also the chief executive of Cogentrix. He will join Carlyle upon the completion of the acquisition, expected in the fourth quarter of 2012, by Carlyle of Cogentrix’s North American business and will be based in New York. Two of Foresight Group’s private equity portfolio companies – Evance Wind Turbines, a Loughborough-based small wind turbine manufacturer, and Autologic Diagnostics, an Oxford-based car maintenance software provider – featured in this week’s Sunday Times Tech Track supplement of the 100 fastest growing private companies in the UK. HarbourVest Global Private Equity’s estimated net asset value per share is USD11.46, a USD0.15 per share (1.3 per cent) increase from the 31 July 2012 figure of USD11.31. Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has acquired 60 per cent of Tok&Stok, Brazil’s largest specialty furniture retailer by sales, from founders Ghislaine and Régis Dubrule. Dubrule will remain chief executive of Tok&Stok following the transaction and the founders will retain a 40 per cent stake in the company. Equity capital for the transaction will come from the USD1bn pool of capital managed by Carlyle’s South America Buyout Fund and Fundo Brasil de Internacionalização de Empresas FIP (FBIE), a local fund advised by Carlyle and Banco do Brasil.
