Aviir Inc has secured USD5m in growth debt capital and a USD3m line of credit on receivables from Silicon Valley Bank to accelerate commercialisation activities and infrastructure build-out for its cardiac risk assessment portfolio of laboratory tests targeted at fostering cardiac disease prevention. The Swiss Funds Association says the solution reached by the Swiss parliament over the partial revision of the Federal Act on Collective Investment Schemes (CISA) is a balanced compromise between investor protection, market access and competitiveness. Acting as second chamber, the National Council dealt with the partial revision of the CISA on 12 September 2012. The National Council’s Committee on Economic Affairs and Taxation (WAK) had proposed various amendments to the drafts put forward by the Federal Council and the Council of States, and these were largely approved. Denver-based private equity firm KRG Capital Partners has completed a recapitalisation of Convergint Technologies along with Convergint’s senior management team. This investment represents the 12th platform company for KRG’s USD1.96bn Fund IV. Convergint Technologies, a commercial security and life safety systems integrator, was founded in 2001 and has enjoyed uninterrupted growth for over 11 years with 21 per cent year over year growth throughout the recession. Middle-market private equity fund TPH Partners II has formed a partnership with Big Horn Energy Services, an oilfield service company headquartered in Midland, Texas.   Big Horn provides oilfield water solutions in the Permian Basin, including real-time high-volume water transfer in support of hydraulic fracturing operations. Duolingo, the free language learning service which translates websites, has raised a USD15m series B round led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with participation from existing investor Union Square Ventures.
