CDC, the UK’s development finance institution (DFI), has appointed Diana Noble as its new Chief Executive Officer. Following the announcement of a new business plan in May, she will lead the company as it places an increased emphasis on the poorest regions of sub Saharan Africa and South Asia.
Noble has had a successful career in international investment and was most recently Executive Vice President at the Clinton Foundation Health Access Initiative. Private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) fundraisings, investments and divestments have grown over the past year, according to the 2011 Yearbook, an annual report of the primary activities of Australian PE and VC firms for financial year published by the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCAL).

Terra Global Investment Management has secured approval for up to USD40 million of financing for the world’s first globally diverse community-based REDD and land-use carbon fund. The Terra Bella Fund’s investment strategy is to provide project finance capital to community-based forest and land-use carbon projects in developing countries.

I hope this isn’t the start of a more market reactionary ECB. Trichet kept the focus on price stability and independence from the Markets and Governments. The press conference after the announcement did something to reassure that the ECB will not throw unlimited amounts of money at the problems Europe is facing, but it would be easy to undo the good work to date to ensure the currency is sound over the longer term, regardless of the poor political decisions and which countries are
Curetis AG, a German medical diagnostics company, has expanded its Series A financing round by EUR 9.6 million with investment from additional leading life-science investors. Total capital raised in the round thus stands at EUR 34.1 million. The new investors include Forbion Capital Partners and Roche Venture Fund, while CD-Venture GmbH and members of the management team also participated.
A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by lead partner Stefan-Ulrich Müller advised Curetis AG and the existing investors on all aspects of the transaction.
