GMT Communications Partners, a European independent private equity group focused exclusively on the communications sector, has made two senior promotions.
Natalie Tydeman (pictured) has been promoted to partner and Vikram Krishna has been promoted to principal.
Tydeman joined GMT in 2007 as a senior adviser and has over ten years’ experience in digital and traditional media. She was previously at Fremantle Media where she was senior vice president, business diversification.
Krishna joined GMT in 2005 as a portfolio reporting analyst. He was promoted to associate in 2006 and to senior associate in 2009. Krishna was formerly a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers,
Alinda Capital Partners has completed the raising of its second infrastructure fund, bringing its total capital commitments to USD7bn.
Alinda’s second fund, Alinda Infrastructure Fund II, has capital commitments aggregating USD4bn.
Alinda launched the first infrastructure fund in the US in August 2005 and held its first closing in 2006. Alinda Infrastructure Fund I had a cover amount of USD1bn but raised USD3bn.
Alinda’s second fund had a cover amount of USD3bn and a cap of USD5bn.
Both Alinda funds focus on infrastructure investments in the US and Europe.

Sterecycle, a UK waste recycling technology company, has raised GBP10m to kick-start a multi-year investment programme in recycling plants based on its environmentally-friendly autoclave technology.
The funds raised have come from a number of institutional and retail investors as well as the company’s existing investors.
This latest round takes total equity funds raised to GBP34m since its founding in 2003.

Law firm DLA Piper has advised management and the shareholders of CPA Global on the sale of a significant stake in the company to mezzanine finance house Intermediate Capital Group.
CPA Global is a Channel Islands-based provider of outsourced legal services.
The acquisition has received the required approvals from CPA Global shareholders as well as the Jersey courts, which sanctioned a new scheme of arrangement. The terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Acquisitions of insolvent businesses in the UK have more than doubled over the past year and remain at high levels, according to research into mergers and acquisitions by Experian Corpfin on behalf of insolvency trade body R3.
During the fourth quarter of 2009, 67 out of the 630 deals completed in the UK – one in nine of all deals – involved companies acquired out of administration or other formal insolvency procedures.
During the year as a whole, there were 345 acquisitions of distressed businesses, amounting to one in every eight mergers and acquisitions.

Stewart will be responsible for building working relationships with both clients and intermediaries.

Offshore law firm Ogier is to offer Guernsey and Jersey legal and fiduciary services in Asia.
In May, Guernsey and Jersey lawyers will be relocating to the firm’s Hong Kong office, where the firm has an established BVI and Cayman legal practice.
This latest move comes in response to increased client demand for Guernsey and Jersey legal and fiduciary services in the Asian time zone.
It will be the first time that Guernsey and Jersey lawyers will operate in this region.

Private equity firm Advent International has acquired Xafinity, a UK-based pension services and employee benefits group, from Duke Street.
The value of the transaction was undisclosed.
Xafinity provides pensions administration, payroll and consulting services for around 1,100 public sector entities and companies, covering 2.1 million pensioners. The company employs 1,400 people in 14 locations across the UK and is headquartered in Reading.
Xafinity was acquired by Duke Street in July 2005 and consists of three operating divisions: Xafinity Paymaster, a provider of pensions administration to the public and private sector; Xafinity Claybrook, a provider of pensions administration systems; and Xafinity
