Kohlberg Kravis Roberts has appointed Arun Sarin as a senior adviser.
Sarin (pictured) is the former chief executive officer of mobile telecommunications company Vodafone and had previously been a senior adviser to KKR.

Transaction volume in the global asset management industry in the third quarter of 2009 was dominated by larger financial institutions shedding investment management businesses, and that trend will continue in the months ahead, according to Jefferies’ financial institutions group.
Over two-thirds of Q3 2009 global asset management M&A activity – 68 per cent – represented divestitures, a record level in a three-month period, according to Jefferies.

Private equity firms invested USD763m in Indian companies across 47 deals during the quarter ended September 2009, according to a study by Venture Intelligence.
The amount invested was significantly lower than that during the same period last year, which witnessed USD2,581m invested across 132 deals, and lower compared to the immediate previous quarter (USD964m across 47 deals).
The latest numbers take the total PE investments in the first nine months of 2009 to USD2,360m across 140 deals, as against the USD9,479m across 365 deals during the corresponding period in 2008.

The Managed Funds Association has reaffirmed its support for proposals that would enhance the transparency and regulatory oversight over private pools of capital, including hedge funds and managed futures funds.

The supervisory council of Rusnano has approved the corporation’s participation in a Russian venture fund, which will be established in partnership with VTB Group and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
The overall size of the fund, called DFJ-VTB Aurora, will be USD100m at the first stage. Rusnano will commit USD50m to the fund and VTB USD50m.
The fund will focus on promising nanotechnology innovation both in Russia and abroad, as well as on attracting foreign partnerships and investment to support the construction of Russian nanotechnology production facilities.

Private equity firm Riverside has acquired Donlin Recano, a bankruptcy management firm based in Chicago, on behalf of stakeholder management and financial communications consultancy Sage Holdings.
It is Riverside’s 11th acquisition since the beginning of 2009 and was made through the Riverside Europe Fund III.
Donlin Recano’s services include pre-Chapter 11 filing preparation, Chapter 11 noticing solutions, claims management, balloting and distribution services. DRC also provides information support services to committees of unsecured creditors appointed in Chapter 11 cases.

DN Capital, a media and technology growth capital and early stage investor, has appointed Tom Bradley as a principal.
Bradley has been active in the UK venture capital market for nine years and most recently was a partner with DFJ Esprit in London where he was a member of the founding team.
Bradley has been involved in investing in a variety of technology and communications businesses including LoveFilm.com, a provider of online DVD rentals and movie downloads. He also sourced and executed the buyout of NetEconomy, a provider of software for financial institutions subsequently sold to Fiserv.
