ChainCraft, a Dutch scale-up active in circular chemical production, has closed a €11 million funding round led by Convent Capital, and secured the upcoming equity funding for its full-scale flagship plant.  ChainCraft produces circular chemicals from food waste through innovative fermentation technology, replacing fossil and palm oil based chemicals.  Existing investors Shift Invest, Horizon 3 and PDENH also participated in the round with the funds set to be used to lay the groundwork for an industrial scale plant and to accelerate its growth plans for its existing Amsterdam demo plant.   Commercially, the Amsterdam based scale-up is gaining speed. Thoma Bravo is expanding its presence internationally with the opening of an office in London. The new office will complement the firm’s existing offices in San Francisco, Chicago and Miami, each of which have recently experienced significant growth. As part of this expansion, Irina Hemmers will join Thoma Bravo as a Partner to lead and grow the London office and help deepen the firm’s presence across Europe. The London office will serve as the firm’s hub for UK and European deals and will allow Thoma Bravo to further access the region’s rich ecosystem of innovative and fast-growing software and technology
Baring Private Equity Asia Ltd (BEPA) has gathered secured capital commitments totalling around $11 billion for its latest and biggest fund to date, according to a report by Bloomberg. The report cites unnamed sources as confirming that the Hong Kong-based investment manager raised about 70% more than a previous $6.5 billion Asia-focused fund. The final closing of the new fund, which is expected to continue BEPA’s strategy of investing in mid- to large-sized firms in Asia, may be announced as early as the end of this month. Private equity firm NorthEdge has completed its investment into Friend MTS, a leading global provider of video content security services. Founded in 2000, and headquartered in Birmingham with offices in Europe and the US, Friend MTS provides content owners, broadcasters and operators with advanced security and platform protection solutions, including network threat intelligence, forensic watermarking and global media discovery optimised with automated content recognition.   The investment was run out of NorthEdge’s Birmingham office, and funded from NorthEdge Fund III alongside co-investors. Oakley Capital’s (Oakley) Oakley Capital Fund V (Fund V) is investing in Facile.it (Facile), one of Italy’s largest online price comparison platform. Following the sale of Oakley Capital Fund III’s (Fund III) investment in Facile, Fund V will acquire a minority stake in the business alongside Silver Lake.
