Apex Group (Apex) has appointed Aneeqa Zamal as compliance executive in its Global Compliance Solutions business. Apex Group’s expanding Global Compliance Solutions team offers a global network of compliance experts, supporting clients to meet their operational and regulatory obligations across international financial hubs. Clients include leading fund and asset managers, placement agents, FX brokers, fund distribution platforms and investment advisors.   Initially based in Apex Group’s London offices and supporting global clients, Zamal will report to Hari Bhambra, Global Head of Compliance Solutions. CoVenture, an asset management firm investing across the capital stack of tech-enabled companies, has added to its team with the appointment of Naved Sheikh as general counsel.  Prior to CoVenture, Sheikh was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley where he served as lead counsel for the infrastructure, secondaries, Asia-focused private equity and growth capital teams and other private investing businesses within Morgan Stanley Investment Management.  Sheikh also perviously served as in-house counsel at Blackstone and as an associate at the global law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Blackstone is to acquire a majority stake in CoreTrust, a bulk-buy specialist that controls how many businesses owned by private equity firms secure and pay for goods and services as varied as printers, pallets and postage, according to a report by PE Insights. The world’s largest alternative asset manager agreed to buy the business, which began life as a supply arm for HCA Healthcare, from the hospital giant’s subsidiary HCA HealthTrust.  Financial terms of the deal, which will see HCA HealthTrust retain a minority stake in CoreTrust, have not been disclosed. HIG Capital (HIG), a global alternative investment firm with over $50 billion of capital under management, has appointed Carlos Soto as a managing director and head of US private equity business development. Soto will be responsible for leading the business development and transaction origination efforts for all of HIG’s US private equity funds. With over 12 years of private equity origination experience, Soto joins HIG from MSD Partners, where he was a Managing Director and Head of Business Development in the Private Capital Group.  Prior to MSD Partners, Soto was a Managing Director and Head of Business Development at Comvest
Huron Capital (Huron) has invested in ExperiGreen Lawn Care (ExperiGreen) alongside a group of executives with deep industry experience. The partnership brings the middle-market private equity firm’s  long history of scaling services businesses together with a leadership team and board of directors that has amassed decades of experience at the most successful companies in the industry including Scotts LawnService, Barefoot Grass Lawn Services, TruGreen, and Real Green Systems, among others.  The platform is being developed through Huron’s ExecFactor strategy. Nasrolahi will be responsible for sourcing and leading new deals, as well as supporting existing InMotion portfolio companies.  Her focus area is in consumer digital services and the consumerisation of B2B. The appointment comes as InMotion Ventures seeks to supercharge its strategic investments into startups building a sustainable future for the automotive industry. Patchwork Health, a healthcare workforce platform built by NHS doctors, has raised £20 million in a series B funding round led by Perwyn. Praetura Ventures and KHP Ventures also participated along with a number of prominent angel investors, including Monzo founder Tom Blomfield and Social Chain co-founder Dominic McGregor. Pomona Capital, a global private equity firm specialising in secondaries investing, has raised a combined total of $4 billion across its platform in the past two years.  The firm recently held a final close on its tenth secondaries flagship fund, Pomona Capital X (PC X) with commitments of $2.6 billion.  PC X was oversubscribed and capped, surpassing its target of $2 billion by 30% and is approximately 50% larger than its predecessor fund Pomona Capital IX, which collected nearly $1.8 billion.
