OMERS Private Equity, the private equity arm of OMERS, a pension plan for municipal employees in Ontario, has acquired a minority stake in NovaSource Power Services (NovaSource) for $100 million.
NovaSource is a specialist in solar operations and maintenance (O&M) services to utility, commercial, industrial, and residential customers, with over 20GW of solar assets under management. NovaSource operates a global footprint with a presence in North America, South America, EMEA, Asia, and Australia. It is the largest independent Solar O&M provider in the United States and globally.

N4 Partners (N4) has appointed Gordon Merrylees, the former Managing Director of Entrepreneurship for NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank, as the firm readies itself for the launch of a new investment fund targeting entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses based in the UK.

Innova Capital has raised over €220 million for the first close of its latest fund – Innova/7 – achieving 60 per cent of the fund’s €350 million target in just 10 months. The vast majority of the capital was committed by existing investors (LPs) of prior funds.
Commitments have been made by a global investor base, including commercial investors and international financial institutions.
As in the past, Innova will focus on making control investments in companies with enterprise values of EUR 50–150 million, investing equity tickets of EUR 25–40 million. The Innova/7 strategy will be based on two key transaction types
HitecVision has held a final close on the HitecVision New Energy Fund (NEF), oversubscribed at the fund’s hard cap of EUR875 million, exceeding its EUR500 million target. In addition, €175 million in co-investment capital has been raised for Vårgrønn, the fund’s first offshore wind investment, meaning that HitecVision will deploy €1.050 million for its new energy transition strategy.

Actis, a global investor in sustainable infrastructure, is to acquire a majority stake in Levanta Renewables (Levanta), a Vietnam and Southeast Asia-focused renewables platform.
Founded by Sudhir Nunes, who has significant experience in executing renewable power projects, Levanta has 300MW of onshore wind power projects in advanced development. With Vietnam as the anchor market, Actis will build on Levanta’s pipeline and apply its proven buy-and-build strategy to scale the business into a 1.5GW renewable platform across Southeast Asia, delivering power to a range of offtakers, including C&I customers.

Global investment firm Carlyle has appointed David McCann has interim global head of investor relations, effective 10 August, 2022, succeeding Nathan Urquhart who has decided to leave the firm to pursue new opportunities.
Urqhart will remain at Carlyle until the end of 2022, working with senior leadership to ensure a smooth transition.
McCann, with more than three decades of experience in investment management, joined Carlyle in 2014 and is responsible for building partnerships with our largest LPs across North America.
