Ara Partners (Ara), a private equity firm that specialises in industrial decarbonisation investments, has hired Alyssa Hooper as a principal to support its infrastructure strategy. Hooper is a senior investment professional with over ten years of investment and advisory experience in infrastructure and sustainable project finance. She will be based in Ara’s Boston office. Prior to joining Ara, Ms. Hooper was a Principal at Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a multi-billion infrastructure manager.

Global private equity investor Advent International (Advent) has completed fundraising for its flagship fund, Advent International GPE X. The Fund reached its hard cap of $25 billion (€22.1 billion) in commitments after less than six months in the market. Open banking platform Yapily has partnered with B2B Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) start-up Two, enabling merchants to offer BNPL services to their business customers instantly at checkout. SMEs are the backbone of Europe’s economy. They account for almost two thirds of European jobs and contributed approximately €3.5 trillion to the European economy in 2020. Yet, as reported by Allianz, industry research estimates that a €400bn SME finance gap still exists in Europe.  Together, Yapily and Two are easing the burden for these SMEs by offering alternative ways to access credit via BNPL and open banking.
OpenDialog AI Ltd (OpenDialog AI), a newly launched company setting out to unlock the potential of conversational AI technology, has raised $5 million in its initial seed round of funding. The funding was secured in only four weeks, with an oversubscription of potential investors, indicative of a sector that is expected to grow to an estimated $46 billion market globally by 2028, according to Data Bridge. Silversmith Capital Partners (Silversmith) has sold Market Access Transformation (MAT) to Genesis Research has closed. MAT’s co-founders, Baiju Aurora and Paul Howard, will continue to lead MAT as a wholly owned subsidiary and will remain shareholders. Silversmith served as MAT’s first institutional investor in November 2020 when it led a $30 million investment in the company to support its next phase of growth.  MAT specialises in developing agile technology platforms that enable life sciences companies to gather insights and assess the commercial viability of their products quickly and with rigour.
Trill Impact has acquired a majority stake in Raksystems, a property well-being specialist in the Nordics. Raksystems offers building inspections and services both for consumer and business customers, green building services (certificates and energy/lifecycle planning), as well as related renovation and new construction projects.  The company supports over 16,000 customers per year with inspections to help ensure that their buildings meet relevant standards. Raksystems also offers advice on further improvements and enhancements to improve building sustainability and create healthier environments for inhabitants.
