Texas-based private investment firm Andros Capital Partners has closed its energy-focused inaugural investment fund Andros Energy Capital LP at its USD250 million hard cap.
Andros did not use a placement agent or any outside advisor in connection with the capital raise. Partners Michael De Voe Piazza and Phillip Isom of Willkie Farr Gallagher LLP provided legal counsel to Andros in connection with the fund formation.
The fund will employ a sector-specific investment strategy targeting private equity investments, credit opportunities and direct asset-level investments across the energy sector.
Andros is mainly focused on middle-market transactions requiring between USD25 and USD200 million

Nova Pangaea Technologies, which has invented a way to use non-food biomass to make biofuels and other chemicals, has raised another GBP900,000 in the run-up to a planned Series A investment later this year.
The funding comes from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, the UK Government’s Future Fund and existing private investors.
The company also appointed Neil Guilder as CFO, Dr Neil Hindle as CTO and Peter McGenity as CCO in connection with the deal.

DIVERSITY
A list of 80 City investment management firms have agreed to back an initiative to increase black representation within key functions in portfolio management and finance.
The new initiative, called #100blackinterns, aims to bring together long only and hedge funds, private equity, credit and real estate managers, together with consultants and pension funds within the investment management industry, to give portfolio management function internships to young, university-educated black people.
The firms taking part in the program have committed to offer a paid internship to a black candidate next summer in a frontline investment position, and applications are welcome from black

General Atlantic has entered a strategic partnership with fitness community and apparel brand Gymshark in its first-ever fundraise, valuing the business at over GBP1 billion.
The valuation means that Gymshark joins the list of fewer than 25 British companies to have secured unicorn status since 2001. It is the second British company to have done so without previous support from external investors.
In connection with GA’s investment the founder is increasing his stake in the company to more than 70 per cent. GA will take a 21 per cent stake in the business following the deal, and Melis Kahya Akar,
