Nordic life science venture fund Eir Ventures has held a first close of its new fund, that will be focusing on healthcare innovation, on EUR76 million.
Eir Ventures will invest in companies with products and technologies addressing unmet medical needs and a potential to improve the life of patients. “In the current environment, where financing has become even more sparse and startups are struggling to fund development, healthcare innovation is more important than ever,” said Dr Magnus Persson, managing partner of Eir Ventures.

Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) has held the final close of Monte Rosa V, the fifth fund in a series of diversified, multi-manager private equity funds, at at USD 1.164 billion.
Maurizio Arrigo, head of Private Equity at PAA, said that the capital raise positions Pictet as a “leader in the global private equity sector, capable of attracting both high net worth individuals and traditional institutional investors.”
Monte Rosa V will invest mainly in North American and European buyout funds, as well as in other geographies (for example China, Australia, emerging markets, but to a lesser extent). It will also invest in

Manila-based private equity firm Navegar has held a final close of its second fund at USD197 million, above the fund’s USD150 million target.
The fund will focus on investments in established companies in the consumer and business services sectors in the Philippines.
Monument Group acted as a placement agent and exclusive adviser on the raise. Investors include development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, endowments, family offices and high net worth individuals in Asia, Europe and the US.

ESG investing continues to gain momentum and prominence among global institutional investors as they increasingly look to benchmark not only the performance of funds in their portfolios but the impact they have on the world.
Mutual funds and ETFs with a focus on sustainability attracted USD20.6 billion in net inflows in 2019, four times higher than the USD5.5 billion raised in 2018, according to Morningstar.
