Vengture capital fund MMC has announced two new partner appointments alongside another four promotions.
bfinance, an independent investment consultancy, has appointed former LGPS investor Trevor Castledine as Senior Director, Private Markets. Joining the private markets team at bfinance’s London office, Castledine brings over twenty-five years’ experience in financial services, pensions and investments.
Castledine was formerly Deputy CIO and Private Credit Investment Director at LPP (Local Pensions Partnership), and prior to that was Deputy CIO at Lancashire County Pension Fund. Specialist fixed income manager, BlueBay Asset Management (BlueBay), has appointed Stephan Eckstein to the newly created role of Sales Director.Based in Zurich, Eckstein reports to Roberto Valsecchi Oliva, Head of Switzerland and Southern Europe and will be responsible for developing BlueBay’s presence with wholesale investors in the region. Stephan’s appointment continues to bolster BlueBay’s Swiss presence, following the appointments of Renato Aebi and Marc-Hendrik Berthold in 2018.

Clearwater International has opened a new office in Yorkshire as the business continues to grow its national and international footprint.The new office in Leeds will be headed by recently appointed Partner Richard Goldsack who joins Clearwater International with 19 years’ experience in the corporate finance industry. Having previously worked at Grant Thornton and Ernst & Young in the UK and Australia, Richard has advised on over 50 deals across owner-managed businesses, large corporates, and private equity.

Agarwal, who is based in the Firm’s New York office, is principally engaged in evaluating and executing investments in the software and technology-enabled services sectors.Prior to CD&R, Agarwal spent nine years at EQT Partners in New York and TPG Capital in San Francisco, where he focused on transactions in the technology and media sectors. He began his career in the Technology, Media and Telecom group of the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs & Co.

Private equity specialist Jonathan Blake has joined Herbert Smith Freehills in London as the head of international private funds strategy.In this role, Blake will advise clients on their private funds requirements, drawing together the firm’s existing capabilities and experience, as well as generating new client opportunities through his network of private equity, real estate, infrastructure, credit, venture capital and secondaries managers. His recruitment marks a major milestone in the development of Herbert Smith Freehills’ investment funds practice.
