Man Global Private Markets (Man GPM), Man Group’s private markets investment business, has appointed Dawn Turner as a member of the firm’s Community Housing Advisory Committee. Turner is the sixth member of the Advisory Committee, which was formed in early 2019 to provide advisory support to Man GPM’s Community Housing investment team.
Turner has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and expertise advising local governments, pension funds and impact fund managers on responsible investing. She is the former Chief Executive of the £30 billion investment management company Brunel Pension Partnership[1], a Local Government Pensions Scheme (LGPS) Pool, and prior to that served as Chief Pensions Officer at the Environment Agency Pension Fund. She is currently the Independent Deputy Chair of the Gwent Police Joint Audit Committee and Ambassador of industry impact group Pensions for Purpose.
Man GPM has developed a UK-focused Community Housing strategy under the leadership of Shamez Alibhai, Head of Community Housing and Portfolio Manager. The strategy seeks to accelerate the provision of affordable homes in the UK across both rental and ownership tenures, with a strong focus on creating sustainable communities and aiming to generate both financial and social returns. The firm has continuously reinforced its commitment to the strategy over the past year, including the addition of three new hires to the Community Housing team and the appointment of additional Advisory Committee member Paul Beardmore.
Shamez Alibhai, Head of Community Housing, Man GPM, says: ”Dawn has spent her career championing and advocating for the role that private and institutional capital can play in creating a more sustainable and responsible future. Alongside the expertise of the rest of the Advisory Committee, Dawn’s counsel and deep knowledge of the UK responsible investment and pension sectors will prove invaluable as we look to play our part in solving the UK’s housing shortage.”
Man GPM is a specialist in residential real estate investments, managing approximately USD2.4 billion (as of 30 September 2019). Over the past seven years, the business has delivered more than 4,000 residential rental houses and financed an additional 17,000 residential units globally.
