CDC International Capital has named Joanna Hislop as an independent administrator and member of the company’s investment committee.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and Sciences Po in Paris, as well as a holder of an MBA from Harvard Business School, Hislop started her career in 1995 at Goldman Sachs in London, where she was Managing Director within direct alternative investments, the department in charge of the bank’s private equity funds and private debt.
Following this, she spent six years as a partner and investment committee member at Park Square Capital, a European investment fund based
Boodle Hatfield has promoted Rahul Thakrar to Partner. The promotion takes effect from 1 May 2016.
Thakrar is a Partner in Boodle Hatfield’s Corporate team. His clients include investors, entrepreneurs and private businesses in a variety of sectors ranging from real estate to technology. He has a particularly strong practice in advising on corporate real estate M&A transactions and joint ventures.

BGF (Business Growth Fund) continues to grow its investment team covering the North of England with the appointment of Ben Barker, who will be based across BGF’s offices in Manchester and Leeds.
Barker has more than 13 years’ experience of equity funding gained, most recently, as a director at Caird Capital where he worked on a number of transactions including the sale of Tuffnells to Connect Group plc and the investment in and subsequent IPO of McColl’s Retail Group. Barker began his career at HSBC and held senior roles at Bank of Scotland Integrated Finance, where he worked for eight
NorthEdge Capital, a private equity house that invests in businesses in the North of England, has hired Ben Wildsmith as Portfolio Director to manage the firm’s existing portfolio and to help deliver new deals across the North of England.
Wildsmith has over 15 years of corporate finance experience. He joins NorthEdge from EY where he was Corporate Finance Director responsible for leading the regional debt advisory business. Prior to that he specialised in business reorganisations and operational change gaining expertise in advising family and owner managed businesses. Prior to EY, Ben was at accountancy firm, Andersen.

Magda Magnuszewska, previously Managing Director at private equity firm Innova Capital, has been promoted to Partner.
Magnuszewska (pictured) started her career at Innova Capital in 2004. Since then, she has gained experience in the private equity market, taking part in numerous projects, particularly in the field of TMT and related services. Her focus has been on investments in new technologies and online markets. Magda’s latest transaction in this sector was Innova’s investment in the Netsprint Group, the Polish technological marketing and big data leader. She has also been a team leader and mentored new talent at the fund.

Masters leads Bowmark’s business & financial services and media practices. Since joining the firm from European Capital in 2008, he has led a number of successful investments across a range of industries, including specialist legal publisher, Law Business Research, and insurance e-wholesaling business, iprism.

Sorby has 18 years’ portfolio management experience gained most recently at Midven and before that at YFM Group, Connection Capital and 3i, where she spent 11 years.
Based in BGF’s Birmingham office, Sorby joins a team of 10 investors covering the Midlands who, in addition to identifying investment opportunities, provide support to the companies they back.

Olson has over 15 years experience in the FinTech sector and has been a key figure in over 100 M&A and financing transactions at William Blair (13 years) and Merrill Lynch (2 years). Effective immediately, he is the senior banker in the firm's newly-formed Chicago office.
