Epi-V LLP, the specialist upstream oil and gas services investment fund, has appointed Grahame Cook (pictured) as chairman.
Cook is a chartered accountant by training and has over 20 years’ experience in global investment banking, including senior management roles at Barclays de Zoete Wedd and UBS. During this time he worked extensively with private equity clients and was responsible for a large number of M&A transactions, capital raisings and market listings. At UBS he established a range of industry groups including one in oil and gas.

ECI Partners LLP, the UK growth focused mid-market private equity firm, has appointed Joe Garrood (pictured) as an Investment Manager in its London office.
Garrood will join ECI’s commercial team which is dedicated to accelerating growth, unlocking value and delivering upside projects for portfolio companies. Involved both pre and post deal, the commercial team is fully integrated with the investment team and works closely with ECI’s investment directors and the boards of portfolio companies.

Bertrand Meunier joins CVC Capital Partners (CVC) as a Managing Partner and member of the PE Board with immediate effect. He will be based in London where he will have global responsibilities including leading the newly formed global consumer goods sector and overseeing the development of the firm in France.
Meunier was Chairman of the Partner Committee and Head of the sector teams at PAI Partners. He joined PAI in 1982 formerly part of BNP Paribas and for 11 years led investments in Information Technology and Telecommunications, before turning to the Consumer Goods, Retail and Services sector which he led
HgCapital, the leading European sector-focused private equity investor, has promoted Kai Romberg to partner. The move recognises Romberg’s strong performance, delivered since he joined HgCapital in 2004 as an Associate.


Romberg has played an important role in many value-creating investments including SiTel, Addison, Visma, CSG, Achilles (which won the Fast Track Private Equity Deal of the Year Award in 2011), Lumesse, TeamSystem and Teufel.

Darby Overseas Investments, the private equity arm of Franklin Templeton Investments, has hired two new executives.
S Scott Gregory has been appointed managing director, with responsibility for seeking new or expanded commitments to Darby’s family of emerging markets private equity funds by communicating Darby’s investment philosophy, process and strategy to current and prospective institutional investors. He reports to David Mathewson, senior managing director, and is based in Franklin Templeton’s New York office.

Jersey Finance has appointed Heather Bestwick (pictured) to the new role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer. She will maintain the role of Technical Director, leading the Jersey Finance technical programme, but will have additional responsibility for several operational functions including human resources, finance and IT.
An English solicitor and former Managing Partner of the Jersey office of international law firm Walkers, Bestwick joined Jersey Finance in 2010.

Ernst & Young has appointed Robert Bruning as managing partner for the firm’s San Diego practice. He succeeds Mark Stephens, who will be retiring in June after 36 years of service to the firm.
Bruning has been an assurance professional and executive officer in the technology, manufacturing and consumer product industries for 25 years, starting his career at the firm in 1987. Between 1993 and 1998, he was the CFO of two publicly traded companies, Cobra Golf and Oakley. He returned to Ernst & Young in 1998.

Anson Group Limited has appointed Professor Richard Conder as its new chairman and Melville Trimble as a new director. Both appointments are non-executive and took effect from Friday 9 March 2012.
Professor Richard Conder retired in 2011 from being the Chief Executive of the GTA University Centre in Guernsey having previously been a Pro Vice Chancellor of Bournemouth University and before then holding senior posts in industry and commerce. Richard Conder is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
He received a Masters degree in Business Administration
Appleby, a provider of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services, has appointed Cayman litigator, Christopher Russell, as partner in the firm’s Cayman Islands office from 1 May 2012.
Russell joins Appleby from Ogier’s Cayman office where, until recently, he led the firm’s litigation group. He is extremely well known in the Cayman Islands where he is regarded by peers as being one of the best lawyers on the island.
