Law firm Withers Bergman has hired Robert Wessely as a partner in its New York office.
He was previously a partner at Arnold & Porter.
A specialist in cross-border transactions, Wessely has represented a diverse range of clients in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the US.
He has extensive experience in providing strategic and structural advice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, venture capital, joint ventures, financing, restructuring and licensing transactions.

Oliver Quarmby, Vanessa Moussaieff, Sophia Harrison and David Jones join the firm with experience gained at magic-circle firms in London and top tier firms from across the UK.
Quarmby, who joins the firm’s corporate team as an associate, is a specialist funds lawyer from Laven Legal Services in the City. He began his career in the funds group at Stephenson Harwood before joining the corporate finance team at City broking firm Collins Stewart where he was assistant director of corporate finance.

The Board of 3i Group has appointed Sir Adrian Montague CBE (pictured) as Chairman. The appointment will take effect at the conclusion of 3i’s AGM in July 2010.
Montague, who joins the board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 June, succeeds Baroness Hogg, who took up her new role as Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) on 1 May 2010.
Montague’s career to date successfully spans both private and public sector leadership roles. He is currently non-executive Chairman of Michael Page International PLC, CellMark AB and Anglian Water Group as well as non-executive director at Skanska
Steve Crowell has joined real estate private equity firm Alvarez & Marsal Capital Real Estate (A&M CapRE) as a senior director.
Atlanta-based Crowell brings more than 25 years of experience operating and raising capital for community banks throughout the Southeast as well as handling commercial credit underwriting, real estate lending and turnaround management strategies for banks, real estate companies and operating companies. He has successfully led bank turnarounds and has experience managing the regulatory agreement process. Mr. Crowell offers specialized expertise in loan participations and loan syndications as well as loan loss reserve analysis and bank regulatory issues.

Private equity firm Advent International has added Kevin Beeston to its operating partner programme.
Beeston will work with Advent to identify investment opportunities in the business services and related sectors whilst also continuing in his role as chairman of Advent’s portfolio company, Domestic & General, a provider of post point-of-sale extended warranty services.
Beeston is stepping down as chairman of Serco Group in May 2010, having previously served as the group’s chief executive and finance director during his 25 year career with the company.
Beeston is also chairman of Partnerships in Care, an independent provider of mental health services in

Golub Capital BDC, a business development company that is publicly traded on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, has elected John T. Baily to its board of directors.
Baily (pictured) has more than three decades of experience in the accounting industry and a substantial background in insurance industry matters.
Baily currently serves as a member of the board of directors of RLI, Endurance Specialty Holdings, and NYMagic. He was elected to serve as a director to these companies in 2003.
From 1999 until his retirement in 2002, Baily was the pPresident of Swiss Re Capital Partners. Prior to this, he was

Guernsey-based Storey (pictured) qualified as an English solicitor in 2000 and prior to joining Mourant was a senior associate at Cobbetts in Manchester where she gained experience of corporate and commercial transactions and was also seconded to the in-house legal function at Matalan.
She joined the Guernsey office in January 2007 as a member of the finance and funds teams and qualified as a Guernsey advocate in July 2009.
Woodward, based in Jersey, joined Mourant in February 2006 after five years practice in
Alvarez & Marsal, a professional services firm specialising in performance improvement, turnaround management and business advisory services, has added Jeff Schlosser, former national partner-in-charge of the business due diligence group with KPMG, to its private equity services operations group as a managing director.
He is based in New York.
Schlosser (pictured) brings 15 years of operational improvement, corporate advisory and merger and acquisition experience focusing on assisting private equity firms with due diligence and post-acquisition performance improvement.
