Robert Goodman has been named global head of private equity and real assets for Sterling Stamos Capital Management, responsible for management, fundraising, operating and investment activities for the firm’s private equity and real assets platform.

‘I have known Robert Goodman for over two decades, going back to our days together at McKinsey,’ says the firm’s chairman and chief executive Peter Stamos. ‘He brings a tremendous level of credibility to our private equity and real assets platform.’

Goodman was previously vice-chairman and a member of the global operating committee of Deutsche Asset Management. During his career at investment banking and private equity firms he was global head of insurance investment banking at N.M. Rothschild and held a similar position at Lazard Frères.

He has also been executive director of financial institutions investment banking at Goldman Sachs and a principal and co-head of the European insurance group at McKinsey.

Founded in 2002, Sterling Stamos is a private investment firm that uses an endowment approach to invest in fixed income, equity, absolute return, real assets and private equity n behalf of high net worth individuals and institutional investors.

Sterling Stamos, in which Merrill Lynch took a non-controlling stake in May last year, has principal offices in New York and Menlo Park, California and more than USD6bn in assets under management.
