Ropes & Gray advises ICG on USD5.3bn Visma buyout

International law firm Ropes & Gray has advised Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) on the USD5.3 billion consortium buyout of Visma, Europe’s largest ever software buyout.

ICG was part of a consortium of investors that bought stakes in the deal. Other investors included HgCapital, Cinven, GIC and Montagu, alongside Visma’s management team.

The Ropes & Gray team was led by private equity partner Helen Croke, with finance partner Malcolm Hitching leading on the debt aspects of the deal.  Other members of the team included finance counsel Alex Robb and private equity associate Nicholas Matthew.

In May 2017, Ropes & Gray advised Oakley Capital Investments, another new client for the firm, on its investment in TechInsights, a US technology company that offers intellectual property consulting, patent brokerage services, and technical analysis.  The Ropes & Gray team was led by private equity partners Phil Sanderson and Helen Croke.  Other members of the team included private equity associates Electra Sorba and Ron Boucher.
