Scientific Conservation, a provider of energy efficiency, system optimisation and automated continuous commissioning solutions for the commercial building market, has closed USD5m in series A funding with Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California.
The company has also named Russ McMeekin as chief executive officer.
Prior to joining Scientific Conservation, McMeekin served from 2002 to 2008 as president, chief executive officer and board member of Progressive Gaming International, an integrated gaming management systems provider which pioneered the use of RFID in poker chips for the casino gaming industry.
From 2001 to 2002 he was president and chief executive officer of ViaFone, a private venture funded wireless enterprise software company which was sold to Extended Systems.
"As a seasoned technology executive who has worked with DFJ for more than a decade in a variety of capacities, we believe Russ will be instrumental in establishing SCI as the leader for building energy management space," says Raj Atluru (pictured), managing director, DFJ.
"I’m thrilled about the opportunity to join the Scientific Conservation team. The company has accomplished a great deal and is well positioned for future growth. I look forward to working together with our employees to take Scientific Conservation to the next level," adds McMeekin.
