StepStone and PitchBook Partner to expand deal-level private markets analytics offering

StepStone Group has entered into a strategic partnership with private capital data provider PitchBook to deliver deal-level performance and operating metrics directly to institutional market participants through an integrated data solution.

Under the agreement, StepStone’s proprietary SPI platform will be combined with PitchBook’s private capital market intelligence, research capabilities, and AI-enabled analytics tools. The collaboration is designed to provide fund managers, investors, and service providers with enhanced benchmarking and transparency across private equity buyouts, venture capital, growth equity, and infrastructure investments.

The integrated offering will allow users to analyse anonymised and aggregated deal-level data, enabling more granular evaluation of performance drivers, capital deployment, and value creation across private market strategies.

StepStone said the partnership responds to growing demand from investors for deeper transparency and more sophisticated analytical tools in increasingly complex private markets.

“The ability to compare deal performance and operating metrics at a more granular level will help investors better understand track records and improve decision-making,” said Tyler Johnson, partner and chief technology officer at StepStone Group.

Key features of the collaboration include enhanced deal-level analytics, enabling users to filter and benchmark performance by strategy, sector, geography, deal size, and vintage. The system also supports improved investor relations and fundraising processes by providing more detailed performance attribution and benchmarking tools.

In addition, the platform is designed to help investors distinguish between sources of returns at a more granular level, separating manager skill from broader market exposure, while also supporting more detailed underwriting and investment analysis.

From PitchBook’s perspective, the integration further expands its private capital analytics ecosystem, embedding StepStone’s SPI data into its existing workflow tools to allow users to assess deal-level performance and market trends within a single platform environment.

The offering is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2026 and will be available both as a standalone solution and integrated within existing platforms used by fund managers and institutional investors.

StepStone Group manages approximately $811bn in total capital, including $220bn in assets under management, serving pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurers, endowments, foundations, and private wealth investors globally.

PitchBook, a subsidiary of Morningstar, provides data and analytics on private and public capital markets and serves more than 100,000 clients worldwide.
