Swedish investment firm EQT, Europe’s largest private equity house with over €200bn in assets under management, is looking to raise $12.5bn for a new fund which will focus on investments in the Asian market, according to a report by Reuters.
The fund, named EQT Private Capital Asia’s BPEA Private Equity Fund IX, will be managed by EQT Private Capital Asia, a division established in October 2022 following EQT’s $6.7bn acquisition of Baring Private Equity Asia.
The investment strategy for this new fund will align closely with that of EQT’s previous $11.2bn fund launched in September 2022. The final size of the fund will depend on the results of the ongoing fundraising efforts, according to a statement from EQT.
