Venture Capital firm Oxx expands team to address “huge long-term opportunity” in European software

B2B software focused investor Oxx, which is headquartered in London and Stockholm, has made four new additions to its team. Philip Edmondson-Jones joins the London team as a Principal; Ingrid Bonde Åkerlind joins as an Investment Professional in Stockholm; Mark Lewis joins the London team as the Operating Partner; and Archit Rathi re-joins the firm as an Intern.

The four new hires come on the heels of an active beginning to the year. Oxx recently closed a fund, raising USD133 million to invest in European software companies at the growth stage. The firm has started deploying this capital, participating recently in portfolio company Funnel’s USD47m Series B funding round, leading a USD22 million investment in Codility, and joining a GBP10 million new investment in Goodlord.

Richard Anton, Co-founder and General Partner of Oxx, says: “Increasingly, Europe is becoming a standout market for software companies. The continent plays host to a unique combination of entrepreneurial zeal, plentiful and affordable tech talent, and more recently a track record of success in building and scaling software companies.

“Now more than ever it’s the time to redouble our commitment to this exciting and high potential market. Great companies are delivering real value, even in these unprecedented times. So we are delighted to welcome four new faces to our team, increasing our capacity as we search for the next generation of software leaders.”

Mikael Johnsson, co-founder and General Partner of Oxx, adds: “We work closely with our founders. We don’t believe in pushing founders towards unhealthy ‘growth at all costs’ targets. Instead, we roll up our sleeves and add value in whatever way we can, ensuring that the entrepreneurs can maintain their focus on building sustainable and world-beating software businesses. Having invested in and supported companies through past downturns, we know that these can be very challenging times for entrepreneurs, but the companies that make it through will be stronger for it.

“As we grow our team, we are even better equipped to assist our entrepreneurs practically on the front line, and to offer valuable experience, support and guidance.”
