Warburg Pincus opens Tokyo office

Private equity firm Warburg Pincus has opened its Tokyo office, located in the Marunouchi building in the heart of the city’s central business district. The firm has an over three-decade presence in Asia, alongside a long-standing partnership with Japanese corporates and investors.

Over the past decade it has steadily expanded its activities in Japan — initially by supporting portfolio companies’ growth into the market, and more recently through direct investments across new economy real estate sectors such as logistics, living, and life sciences. Notable recent investments include Tokyo Beta, Japan’s largest share house portfolio; life sciences and R&D facilities through a partnership with EGW; and two prime logistics assets in the Greater Tokyo area acquired earlier this year.

The dedicated local team in its Tokyo office is designed to deepen relationships with Japanese corporates and investors, and to accelerate investment across both private equity and real estate. It will focus on opportunities in technology, healthcare, and industrials, as well as in new economy real estate sectors such as living, logistics, life sciences, and data centres.
