An affiliate of The Wicks Group, a New York-based private equity firm, has acquired Antenna Audio from Discovery Communications.
Antenna specialises in the production and delivery of educational content for use in multimedia and mobile tours for museums, exhibitions, historic sites and visitor attractions throughout the world.
Antenna operates in over 20 countries and in multiple languages at more than 350 museums and cultural sites. Last year, Antenna provided over 20 million audio and multimedia tours.
The Wicks Group will seek to leverage Antenna’s expertise and market position to expand into adjacent and untapped markets with an expanded suite of products and services.
"We have very high expectations for the success of Antenna Audio as a pioneer and market leader," says Daniel L. Black, partner at The Wicks Group. "We look forward to working with the management team, staff and an iconic and world class customer base in the coming years to help deliver enhanced and unique educational experiences to their visitors. Discovery Communications has been a fine steward of the business during its ownership, and we expect to take advantage of Antenna’s position as the global market leader to expand and grow with this dynamic and energetic industry."
Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman acted as legal advisers to The Wicks Group on the transaction, and DLA Piper advised Discovery Communications.
