Yorkville appoints managing director and senior vice president

Yorkville Advisors, a US based investment manager to a family of funds, has appointed Lester D. Garrett as managing director and Jason Dawkins as senior vice president.

They will be responsible for managing and growing Yorkville’s energy portfolio.

Garrett and Dawkins join from BlueCreek Energy, a Denver based company that was acquired by Yorkville in December 2009.

They aim to expand Yorkville‘s energy portfolio through standby equity distribution agreements, a type of financing pioneered eight years ago by Yorkville, equity investments, mezzanine debt, and acquisition opportunities.

“This is a great new challenge for us. I believe there is a lot of potential for Yorkville in the energy sector and we both look forward to really driving Yorkville’s expansion in the industry,” says Garrett.

“Les and Jason will bring great sector experience and expertise to Yorkville, a quality we value in our investment professionals,” says Mark Angelo (pictured), chief executive of Yorkville Advisors. “The energy sector is an important area for us and we are excited to have two great additions to the team to grow this aspect of our business.”

Garrett is a geological engineer with 34 years’ experience in all operational phases of oil and gas development, exploration, exploitation and production. Before BlueCreek, he held key positions within executive management with Energy Oil, Mizel Petro Resources, Garrett Resources, and worked with clients at executive levels for Baker Atlas (Baker Hughes).

Dawkins joined Blue Creek Energy in November of 2007. Before that he was director of finance for the MDC Holdings Colorado Homebuilding Division and then vice president of finance at MDC Holdings (Richmond American Homes).
