BB Capital-backed childcare software specialist KidsKonnect acquires competitor ROSA

BB Capital Investments-backed KidsKonnect has acquired Dutch childcare software company ROSA, its fifth bolt-on acquisition in 2021.

ROSA specialises in software for the administration of childcare and childminder. The transaction was preceded by KidsKonnect’s acquisitions of the Dutch childcare software specialists Social Schools, PortaBase and Doenkids and the Belgian Deona.

Investment company BB Capital took a majority interest in Konnect in 2019 from its participation in Flexkids, after which a merger between the two IT specialists resulted in KidsKonnect. In the Netherlands and Belgium, more than ten companies together now serve more than one million children in the age group between 0 and 12 years with childcare software via the combined KidsKonnect platforms. The company’s turnover is expected to reach twenty million euros in 2021. That is a tenfold increase compared to 2019. With a market share of more than 80 per cent and 150 employees, KidsKonnect is one of the largest and fastest growing software developers in the Netherlands.

ROSA offers software for childcare and healthcare. The company from Hillegom was founded in 2005 as Muldata by André Mulder and Yvonne Mulder and serves more than 300 organizations with software solutions. Rosa’s entire team remains on board.

Susan van Koeveringe, CEO of BB Capital Investments, says: “We are delighted that with ROSA we are once again adding a great platform to the KidsKonnect family. By integrating with our existing software solutions, we are increasingly able to guide children in the life stages from 0 to 12 years. At the daycare centre, in out-of-school care, in primary education and within childminder organisations. In this way, parents have maximum control and insight into the continuous learning path of their children.”

Yvonne Mulder, founder of ROSA, says: “We have been developing ROSA for over 16 years now and we have a great product. Through the collaboration with KidsKonnect we can further innovate and offer more value to our customers.”

Peter Baars, CCO of KidsKonnect: “By collaborating with ROSA, we are joining forces and we can continue to invest in building good software. Ultimately, our goal is to make software that supports, helps and above all takes work off our customers through smart functionalities.”
