Aquiline Capital Partners, a New York-based private equity firm investing in the financial services sector, has made an investment in TigerRisk Partners.
Aquiline’s initial investment will support the continued organic growth of TigerRisk, with substantial additional equity available for acquisitions in the US and Europe and to further develop its platform.
TigerRisk is a privately held reinsurance broker and risk/capital management adviser that was founded in 2008 by Jim Stanard, a founder and former chief executive of Renaissance Re, and Rod Fox, former chief executive of the US operations of Benfield.
TigerRisk is based in Greenwich, Connecticut with offices in New York, Minneapolis, Chicago, Dallas, and San Antonio.
“Rod’s and Jim’s records of success in building businesses in reinsurance and risk management position them well to succeed on a global basis as an independent advisor,” says Jeff Greenberg (pictured), chief executive of Aquiline. “We believe that insurers value this degree of experience and market knowledge.”
Fox says: “Large insurers with unique risk needs are looking for a broking partner who can help them understand their risks, identify risk management opportunities, and optimize their use of capital. Our partnership with Aquiline allows us to expand our ability to employ the best professionals in the industry in a high quality private company environment, while benefiting from Aquiline’s deep knowledge of the insurance industry.”
TigerRisk recently formed a strategic partnership with Karen Clark to work with TigerRisk clients on an integrated approach to catastrophe risk management. Karen Clark specialises in the field of catastrophe risk and management and in 1987 founded Applied Insurance Research, the first catastrophe modeling company.
