A hunt for higher returns has prompted CalPERS, the biggest public pension scheme in the US with $442 billion in assets, to make a multibillion-dollar push into international venture capital following what it has dubbed a “lost decade” of returns, according to a report by The Financial Times.

Permira Credit, a specialist European credit investor, has completed fundraising for its fifth direct lending fund, Permira Credit Solutions Fund V (PCS5). Including associated vehicles and leverage, total investable capital for the strategy is €4.2 billion.

Global private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners is investing in cleversoft Group, a pan-European provider of regulatory software solutions to the financial services industry in partnership with founder Florian Clever and the firm’s management team.

UK mid-market private equity investor Livingbridge has made a full exit from its investment in Direct Ferries. Livingbrdge first invested in the online ferry ticketing business in 2016 via its 2012 vintage Livingbridge 5 fund.

Nasdaq, a technology company serving the global financial system, is to acquire Adenza, a provider of risk management and regulatory software to the financial services industry, from software investment firm Thoma Bravo for $10.5 billion in cash and shares of common stock.
