CurrentBody, an online retail specialist for home-use beauty devices, has now reached GBP10 million in funding with BGF this week joining NVM Private Equity in backing the Manchester-based business. The investment announcement comes as the company completed its strongest year to date, going live with its 11th international site and launching on Tmall in China. Inflexion Private Equity has agreed to acquire Aspen Pumps, a manufacturer of specialist pumps, from 3i Group plc. The investment is being made by Inflexion Buyout Fund V, Inflexion’s dedicated mid‐market buyout fund. This will be Inflexion’s second period of ownership of Aspen, following a highly successful partnership between 2007 and 2015, during which EBITDA tripled. Aspen is the global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of mini pumps that remove condensate water from air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Europe is the only region worldwide to have recorded positive M&A performance in 2019, with European dealmakers marginally outperforming their regional index by +0.6pp (percentage points) over the last 12 months, according to the latest results from Willis Towers Watson’s Quarterly Deal Performance Monitor (QDPM), run in partnership with Cass Business School. 
Birmingham-based Zipabout Limited has secured a GBP650,000 investment from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) Equity Finance Fund, managed by venture capital firm Midven. The MEIF investment closed a GBP1.35 million funding round, which involved participation from First Derivatives and Founders Factory.Zipabout works closely with transport operators to improve the experience of transport for all through its unique multi-source, big-data and communications platform. Thirteen has successfully issued a private placement to a group of high-profile UK and US institutional investors, securing a GBP100 million injection of new capital. As the largest housing association in the North East with over 34,000 homes, Thirteen secured the funding after its leadership team impressed investors at a series of roadshows.
