Wynnchurch Capital has made an investment in Eastern Metal Supply (EMS) a distributor of aluminium extrusions and related products. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Lake Worth, Florida, EMS started with just five employees and has grown to employ approximately 800 today. The Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) Debt Finance, managed by Maven Capital Partners (Maven), has provided Lincolnshire-based, Jepco, with a GBP900,000 funding package, which will enable the horticulture firm to acquire the hydroponic technology and equipment needed to expand production all year round. Creoptix AG, a Switzerland-based company focused on next-generation bioanalytical instruments, has raised CHF8 million in the first closing of a Series C financing round. The round was led by Swisscanto Invest by Zürcher Kantonalbank and joined by Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) as well as existing private investors. Robert Schier of Swisscanto Invest has joined the board of director. With this financing round, the company has raised more than CHF 15 million since 2013. The Manchester and Tokyo teams of GCA have advised Japanese listed manufacturer Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI), a manufacturer and distributor of power transmission and control equipment, on the GBP100 million acquisition of Invertek Drives. SHI’s current strategy aims to strengthen and expand its business by integrating new technologies in the areas of electric motors and frequency drives and achieving global growth in areas such as robotics and positioning, transportation and logistics and food and beverages. Apex Service Partners (Apex), a platform of HVAC, plumbing and electrical services, has partnered with Southern Air Heating and Cooling (Southern Air), a residential HVAC services company. Southern Air, headquartered in Ball, LA, with locations across Louisiana and Mississippi, will join Florida businesses Best Home Services and Frank Gay Services as a member of the Apex platform. Southern Air will continue to be operated independently by the founding Preuett family under its current brand names.
