UK private equity firm Maven Capital Partners has realised its investment in the scientific instrument developer Blacktrace Group with a strategic sale to US life science tools corporate Unchained Labs.
The sale represents Maven’s third profitable exit in 2023, having earlier in the year sold Hedgehog Lab, a mobile app and web development specialist, and Titan Wealth, a consolidator in the discretionary fund management sector.
The deal is the second profitable sale from the Blacktrace Group following the acquisition of the Group’s Syrris unit by Japanese corporate Asahi Glassplant in early 2020.

Bain Capital is acquiring 90% of Adani Capital and Adani Housing, in a deal which will buy out 100% of the Adani family’s private investments in the company.
Gaurav Gupta, CEO and managing director, will retain his stake and will continue to lead the company.
Bain has also committed $120 million in primary capital to facilitate the company’s ongoing growth. In addition, Bain Capital is also immediately making available to the Company a liquidity line $50 million in the form of Non-Convertible Debentures.

Inflexion Private Equity Partners is buying UK-listed global law firm DWF Group in a recommended all-cash offer for £342 million, according to a report by Marketwatch.
DWF shares rose 13% following the announcement on Friday. Its price had earlier risen after the legal and business services provider DWF and London-based middle market Inflexion said last week they were in talks regarding a possible deal.
Under the agreed terms, DWF shareholders will receive a total consideration of 100 pence a share, which includes 97 pence a share in cash and 3 pence a share from a special dividend.

KKR is nearing a deal to acquire chemical maker Chase for approximately $1.3 billion including debt, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The specialist chemical manufacturer – which has a market capitalization of $1.18 billon – gained 3% this week on the back of reports of a potential deal, which could be agreed later on Friday.
Chase has reportedly received multiple bids from private equity firms including Pritzker Private Capital, a family-owned investment firm connected to the family of Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and others, as well as other industrial companies.

Los Angeles-based Levine Leichtman Capital Partners is investing in SEV, a Burbank, California-based manager and operator of med spas which provide cosmetic services such as laser hair removal, injectables and body contouring.
SEV, which was founded in 2010, will continue to be led by founder and CEO Sevana Petrosian and the existing management and clinical teams. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Glow Capital Partners has taken a 51% stake in Australian hospitality uniform brand Cargo Crew, in the first deal for the Sydney-based private equity firm’s Glow Growth Fund I.
Glow Capital was established in 2021 by former Quadrant Private Equity managing partner Justin Ryan, and Quadrant portfolio company Adore Beauty’s co-founder Kate Morris.
Cargo Crew supplies customisable uniforms to retail, hospitality, transport, health, banking and government industries, with 25% of sales coming from international customers. Glow completed the deal along with co-investors HarbourVest and Continuity Capital.

Buyout firm Thomas H Lee Partners has agreed a deal to acquire a majority stake in US-based fund administrator Standish Management that values the business at around $1.6bn, including debt, according to a report by Reuters.

Software-focused private investment major Thoma Bravo has closed a strategic growth investment in Bluesight, a provider of pharmacy software solutions, to support the company’s acquisition of Medacist, a specialist in drug diversion monitoring.
Financial terms of the transaction, which will see current Bluesight investor New Leaf Ventures remain invested in the business, have not been disclosed.
Bluesight’s vision is to transform the hospital pharmacy supply chain through software. The company’s acquisition of Medacist combines two specialists in drug diversion analytics and medication management solutions that together will serve more than 2,000 hospitals across North America.
