Funds managed by global investment firm Carlyle are to sell PrimeFlight Aviation Services (PrimeFlight), a provider of essential aircraft, passenger, and security-related services to commercial airline, airport, cargo, and general aviation customers, to Capitol Meridian Partners and The Sterling Group.  Financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close by Q3 2023 upon satisfaction of customary closing conditions, have not been disclosed. The Sterling Group and Capitol Meridian Partners have acquired the business in a 50/50 partnership. Private equity firm Permira has been granted access to the books of Gruppo Florence, a hub of Italian clothing manufacturers that supply top luxury brands, as it considers making an offer to acquire the business, according to a report by Reuters. Unnamed Reuters sources have confirmed that Gruppo Florence is currently assessing strategic options in partnership with Bank of America and Citi having drawn interest from investment firms including Carlyle, as well as Permira. A consortium jointly led by private equity firm TPG’s global impact platform The Rise Fund, and Malaysian conglomerate Hong Leong Group, has secured regulatory approval to acquire the International Medical University (IMU) in Kuala Lumpur for 1,345 million Malaysian ringgit ($306 million), according to a report by Deal Street Asia. IMU is the medical education arm of the integrated healthcare services provider IHH Healthcare Berhad (IHH). Goldman Sachs Group Inc’s asset management arm has joined a list of private equity suitors interested in acquiring US-based sandwich chain Subway, which has an estimated price tag of around $10 billion, according to a report by Sky News.
Italian state investor CDP has teamed with Australian asset management group Macquarie to submit a joint bid to acquire Telecom Italia’s fixed-line network, rivalling an offer made last month by KKR, according to a report by Reuters.

ScioTeq, a designer and manufacturer of visualisation solutions for the aviation, ATC, defence, and security markets, and a portfolio company of global private equity firm OpenGate Capital, has acquired IRTS, a manufacturer of ruggedised displays and embedded computers for defence, aerospace and industrial applications.  Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.   Founded in Toulon, France in 1995, IRTS’s products are used in ground army vehicles and other military applications.    The acquisition of IRTS expands both ScioTeq’s presence in the French market, and its product portfolio and is in line with OpenGate Capital’s investment strategy of using add-on
GIC, the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore, has agreed to pay $1 billion to acquire a stake of around 5% in EDP Renovaveis (EDPR), a Europe-based clean energy firm, according to a report by The Strait Times. The renewable energy firm, which has its headquarters in Spain, says plans to use the new capital to fund the growth in renewables and energy transition.  EDPR’s parent company, EDP meanwhile, has reportedly said it wants to maintain a holding of more than 70% in the business and will not enter into any additional share placements of this size.
