Investment group RD Capital Partners (RDCP) continues on its buy-and-build strategy in the construction sector with the acquisition of hydro-demolition firm Buxton Water.The deal marks RDCP’s second acquisition this month following its recent purchase of Su-Fix Precast and its fifth this year following earlier acquisitions of Killingley, Macair and Chilango. Established in 2015 by Sameer Rizvi and Iryna Dubylovska, RDCP is headquartered in London and is one of the fastest growing private companies in the UK. American Pacific Group (APG), a San Francisco-based private equity firm, together with Northstar Capital, has partnered with a team led by veteran software CEO Stephen Woodard to acquire Fresche Solutions (Fresche), a  provider of digital transformation and application modernisation solutions.Fresche, a Montreal-based company, provides a suite of software and service solutions that help modernise and transform IT applications and systems. Founded in 1976, and further established through a series of acquisitions, Fresche has developed leading technology and transformation processes. HVD Partners is to sell Solifos to NBG GmbH. Carved out of Brugg Cables in 2018 and based in Windisch, Switzerland, Solifos is the leading supplier of high performance, specialty fiber optic cables for distributed sensing and mission-critical defence applications.Solifos supplies essential components for remote and distributed sensing systems monitoring structural integrity of bridges, dams, pipelines and other critical infrastructure. The firm also supplies specialty fibre optic cables for high-reliability defense communications applications.   Private equity specialist adviser Humatica supported HVD Partners and the Solifos AG management with the successful carve-out and transformation of the company. Smart addressing startup, OkHi is launching in Africa’s largest market, Nigeria, with its strategic partner, Interswitch Group. The Nairobi based company tackles a problem that costs Nigerian businesses an estimated USD2 billion a year – the lack of postal addressing infrastructure. The announcement stems from a new investment round that will accelerate the company’s growth following its success in Kenya.    The investment from one of Africa’s largest fintech & digital commerce companies, Interswitch, provides OkHi with a key strategic partner for its Nigerian expansion. The USD1.5 million Seed-plus round was also led by Founders Factory Africa and Asian VC, Betatron.
Pamlico Capital (Pamlico) has teamed with Kurt Reisenberg to form Datos Acquisitions, a new platform to invest in information services companies, with a focus on long-term equity value creation. Pamlico has committed up to USD150 million of equity to help Datos Acquisitions pursue investments in companies that provide data, insights and advisory services, including those that serve key corporate functions (eg, Finance, Human Resources, Sales, or Legal & Compliance). The number and value of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals announced in the consumer sector since the start of the year has declined significantly, according to research by Stock Apps.The number of M&A deals in the global consumer sector dropped from 2,922 to 2,244 in the first nine months of 2020.
